Casa de las Amigas opened its doors back in 1967, marking the establishment of the first recovery home in Pasadena specifically catering to women struggling with alcohol and chemical dependency. Each year Casa’s “House of Friends” witnesses the transformation of hundreds of women, who, like butterflies, change and grow as they develop a renewed sense of hope through recovery and embark on their own personal journey toward a new life of serenity and peace. Every woman in search of a productive and sober life will have the opportunity to achieve it. Through an integrated healing program for body and mind that takes place in a homelike environment, Casa de las Amigas helps women with alcohol or drug addiction recover by providing them with the tools necessary to lead productive, responsible and sober lives. Casa de las Amigas offers women hope by guiding them through a unique process of recovery. Women whose lives have become unmanageable due to their alcoholism and/or chemical dependencies are given a choice and a chance to change. We believe that a productive, responsible, and sober life is founded upon the necessary establishment of basic self-esteem and love combined with knowledge and understanding of the disease of addiction with support from12-step programs.

In May 1970, sixty five ladies opened The Green House Gift Shop to raise money for Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Appropriately, the original shop was a green frame house located on East Green Street. In September 1987, the first organizational meeting of the "New Green House" led to the opening of the present shop in Arcade Lane on Colorado Boulevard. The Green House is currently expecting to add to the One Million dollar plus Endowment Fund for Surgical Research at Children's Hospital that the ladies have built since its inception in 1970.

The North Lake Village Business Association (NLVBA) was created to promote economic prosperity, growth and neighborhood vitality in the North Lake Area of Pasadena. Spearheaded by the Enterprise Zone of the City of Pasadena in early 2005, the organization is slowly being recognized as a new commercial center for different kinds of activities. One of NLVBA's visions is to attract individuals and businesses that will promote Art in all of its variedly exciting forms. NLVBA is seeking potential members from the businesses around Lake Avenue and Washington Blvd. NLVBA holds morning meetings on the first Tuesday of the month. Local area issues are discussed with city officials at the meetings and NLVBA lobby for positive changes for the businesses in the area. Members vary from small one-person shops to multi-million dollar businesses. NLVBA plans and supports business forums, mixers, special events, picnics and other social networking events. NLVBA members are multi-racial, politically diverse, and multi-talented. For more info, please visit our website at www.NorthLakeVillage.biz.

The Pasadena Crown City Chorus was formed in December of 1946, making it one of the oldest existing chapters in the Western United States. It is comprised of about 50 men, singing four-part barbershop harmony music and performing regularly throughout Southern California. The chorus is a professional quality singing organization comprised of amateur performers, generally gathering together to rehearse just once per week. We encourage all men with a desire and ability to sing to join the chorus. The chorus is a member of The Barbershop Harmony Society, a non-profit organization formed to preserve the uniquely American musical art form of barbershop quartet singing.

Project Scientist promotes Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math to girls ages 4-14. The need for Project Scientist was based off a vast amount of research that shows girls with a high skill, aptitude, and talent for STEM subjects are not currently served or identified at a young age. Project Scientist was created to change the world’s view of “who” a scientist is and “what” a scientist does. Every second of a girl's time with Project Scientist is intentional and based off of the latest research of what drives and sustains girl's interest in STEM. We annually partner with Harvard and the University of North Carolina Charlotte to research our model and validate our impact.

The YWCA Pasadena-Foothill Valley is dedicated to empowering women and girls and eliminating racism. Established in 1905 as an advocate for young women beginning to enter the workforce, the YWCA Pasadena-Foothill Valley has since been a pioneering voice in its fight for racial, economic, and gender equality. From its pre-1920 racial integration plan to the early 1970s founding of the nation's first Big Sister program and the area's first rape hotline, the YWCA Pasadena-Foothill Valley has long been on the cutting edge of responding to the needs of women and continuing the mission of the YWCA USA established over 150 years ago. The YWCA Pasadena-Foothill Valley serves 850 residents annually in the California communities of Pasadena, Alhambra, Altadena, Arcadia, LaCanada-Flintridge, Monrovia, San Marino, Sierra Madre and South Pasadena. We place special emphasis on working with low-income communities, women, youth, and minorities through our programs and activities. Our program offerings include: summer empowerment camp just for girls after school groups, financial literacy, parent education classes, grandparents as parents support groups SHIELD women's self defense, mat pilates, racial justice committee week without violence, women for racial justice breakfast, women of excellence leadership speaker series
